"Balletszene"
Jurgen Gorg (1951 —)

Handpulled, stone ithograph ca.1990 — 21" x 28" trim, hand-deckled edges

Gallery price(s) price: $675. — $1085

Born in 1951 in Dernbach, Germany, Jurgen Gorg has become a master craftsman and printmaker.

His etchings and lithographs are sold in major galleries the world over. Gorg studied visual arts in Koblenz, Germany and later at the Johannes-Gutenberg University in Mainz, Germany.
The artist combines the mastery of the classical line as found in the Italian Renaissance with a very modern interpretation and use.

The human form is the predominant image portrayed by Gorg. His artistic universe consists of lovers, dancers, musicians, and masked personages. Tender, lithe, slim and young, these idealized, loosely rendered figures suggest the timeless and eternal.

This work of art is a 'stone' lithograph—i.e., plates used to print this limited edition were created in the same manner litho plates were during the 19th Century, using Bavarain limestone surfaces with which to apply ink to paper, one color at a time. This is not photomechanically reproduced, but rather printed on sheet at a time in the time honored tradition of lithography since the 1800's.
