About "Malke Sage."Malke Sage, a gallery in Palo Alto California, was a big supporter of Nagel in the early years. WE have always felt that this composition is more 'nagel' than anything that he did in the later years. It was more in keeping with his gift for line and his eye for color and composition. If you want a 'real' Nagel, one that is evidence of who he was as a designer, this is it. PLUS, it's personaly signed by Nagel and printed by the great Jeff Wasserman, slik screener par excellance.Wassmerman's shop was (and still is) located next door to the shabby chic offices of Mirage Editions down in the industrial district of Santa Monica, CA.Tirage on the Malke Sage was: 250 s/n; 40 a/ps; and 100 s.i.s..About this Malke SageAfter about 1980, as Nagel's phenomenal career began impacting the galleries, many of the dealers began clamouring to have him visit their galleries with a personal appearance. At many of these PAs, fans would purchase posters that were unsigned, ie., from the s.is.s edition (signed in screen) and have Nagel sign them. To distinguich them from those prints that were from the actual s/n part of the edition, Nagel wold insist on dating them, as well as affixing his pencil signature. This is one of tose posters: it is from the SIGNED IN SCREEN part of the edition of 1000, but it also has a REAL pencil signature. It measures 17x25, is offered unframedCondition of this print is rated 'good to fine', never framed.
Please note: this serigraph is in much better condition than this rather poor photo would indicate. Take our word for it, this print is a very serious addition to a Nagel print collection. And btw, we sold a another signed serigraph from the s/n part of the edition just two years ago for over $1,000.
