The image that put Cassidy on the map. I saw this original painting in his garage/studio in 1994. I flew to San Diego to meet with him and convince him to sign a publishing deal with us. The painting—over six feet tall in its original format—just blew me away. So simple, yet so complex.
We published the image as a limited edition giclee of 295 signed and numbered examples in the regular edition (12.5x30") which sold out in 1996. We also did a deluxe size in the edition, of 95 s/n in the Deluxe, which is what is offered here. We also commissioned the painting later to be 'repainted' for a collector in Hawaii (price: $20,000).
One of only a few prints we have left that were printed before the deadline of Dec. 31, 2004. This one measures 19 x 42" inches and features hand deckled edges, printed on 285# Lysonic watercolor paper and special prepared archival inks.
As Seventh Heaven Publishers, we published the work of Michael Cassidy for nearly a decade.
Cassidy was world famous for his surf art, figurative work featuring lovely Hawaiian wahines as well as his compositions that were mindful of early 20th Century travel posters. He retired from doing prints in 2004. Sugar Daddy features an Esther Williams-like model and the classic longboard..
